The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) clarifies that the scheme proposed by President Bola Tinubu has not been postponed indefinitely, contrary to allegations on Channels Television."The management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has been alerted to certain media reports, especially on social media, indicating that the much-awaited student loan program launch, which was originally planned for Thursday, March 14, 2024, has been pushed back indefinitely," the organization said in a statement.
"Although there has been a delay, we would like to clarify that it is not permanent, contrary to what the reports suggest."

"For the avoidance of doubt, NELFUND is completely ready for launch. The loan application platform is ready, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned funding for a successful launch.
The postponement was necessary to have all stakeholders fully aligned before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's official flag-off, according to NELFUND's repeated statement.
