As a component of our Youth Development Cause, MTN Scholarships offer an annual opportunity to honor and reward committed, accomplished students from all Nigerian public tertiary institutions. 

Three scholarship categories have been carefully selected to meet the various demands of our outstanding scholars.

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS): This is our premier program established in 2010. It is available to qualified 300-level students enrolled in Science and Technology-related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics). 300 deserving students will receive scholarships totaling N200,000.00 every year until they graduate, as long as they maintain the necessary GPA.

 
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS): Since 2012, Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education) have offered the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) to qualified blind students enrolled in 200- and 300-level courses. The number of blind students who will be awarded scholarships has been raised from 60 to 100 as of 2024. If the necessary grade standards are reached, the annual prize amount is raised from N200,000 to N300,000 and will be given out till graduation.

Top 10 UTME Scholarship: As of 2020, candidates who score the highest on the UTME, as declared by JAMB, are automatically eligible for the Top 10 UTME Scholarship. Scholarships are given to the candidates starting at grade level and continuing through graduation if they meet the conditions.

Benefits of MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)

The MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) has several advantages.

  

Scholarships are given to 300 students who meet the prerequisites for graduation in terms of grades. The yearly reward sum was raised from N200,000 to N300,000 as of 2024.

Applicants must meet up with the following requirements.

A. Institution of Study

  • Nigerian students enrolled in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, polytechnics, and universities) are eligible to apply for the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS). 
  • The number of blind students who will be awarded scholarships has been raised from 60 to 100 as of 2024.
  • If the necessary grade standards are reached, the annual prize amount is raised from N200,000 to N300,000 and will be given out till graduation.

B. Course of Study

  • 300-level level students enrolled in science and technology-related studies at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics) are eligible for the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS). 
  • 200 and 300-level blind students enrolled in any degree at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics) are eligible to apply for the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS).

C. Level of Study

  • Since the academic calendars of public tertiary institutions are not linked, the application is eligible for students who have finished their second-semester 200-level examinations and are currently enrolled in 300-level courses.

D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

  • The minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) requirement for STEM students at public universities and colleges of education is 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second-class higher credit).
  • To be admitted into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program, students in Public Polytechnics must have obtained admission with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program.
  • STEM students pursuing Direct Entry levels must have completed the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (upper credit) and be admitted into a public university's 300-level third year.

Benefits of MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)

Scholarships of N200,000.00 are given to 60 accomplished blind students each year until they graduate, as long as they maintain the necessary GPA.

The MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) has certain requirements. These include:

A. Institution of Study

  • Nigerian students enrolled in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics) are eligible to apply for the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS). The number of blind students who will be awarded scholarships has been raised from 60 to 100 as of 2024.

B. Course of Study

  • 200 and 300-level blind students enrolled in any degree at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (colleges of education, universities, and polytechnics) are eligible to apply for the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS).


C. Level of Study

  • Blind students in 200 and 300 levels at any public tertiary institution in Nigeria are eligible to apply (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). 
  • However, only 300 level pupils are eligible to apply for the MTN Scholarship for blind students studying law, which is a five-year program.


D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

  • A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 is required of blind students enrolled in universities or colleges of education.
  • Blind students enrolled at public polytechnics are required to have obtained admission to the Higher National Diploma (HND) program and to have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program.

This is automatic scholarship for JAMB candidates that make it to the top 10 scoring candidates as announced by JAMB in 2024
