President Bola Tinubu is finally set to launch the disbursement of the Student Loan Scheme on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, marking the official start of the program's execution.
According to LEADERSHIP NEWS, the student loan scheme would be launched at the State House in Abuja.
NELFUND also contributed that loans applied under the student loan scheme will be disbursed to applicants following their respective institutions' academic calendars.

This implies that you are not expected to worry about any deadline for your academic fees, it will be paid to the school directly, following the academic calendars.
Nasir Ayitogo, NELFUND's Head of Media and Public Relations, confirmed this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Friday.

"The funds will be disbursed following each institution's academic calendar. "It will be distributed at the start of the new academic session," Ayitogo stated.
During its inaugural board meeting in Abuja two weeks ago, the NELFUND board approved issuing student loans to qualified applicants, marking a significant milestone in the organization's objective to provide students with financial help.
On April 3, President Bola Tinubu signed the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill, 2024 into law.
The Senate and House of Representatives separately considered the report of the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund before giving their assent.
