The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Monday Okpebholo has been proclaimed the winner of Saturday's Edo State gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The statement was delivered on Sunday at the INEC collation center in Benin City by Prof. Faruq Adamu Kuta, the returning officer for the election and vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna.Prof. Kuta reports that Okpebholo received 291,667 votes in total, winning 11 of the state's 18 local government districts (LGAs).
