The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has promised to prosecute the organizers of the children's funfair that resulted in the tragic loss of 35 children in a stampede on December 18, 2024, at the Islamic High School in Ibadan.

The governor announced this during the annual interfaith service to usher in the year 2025, which was held in the parking area of the Governor's Office Secretariat.
According to Tribune Online, the organizers, who include Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, an ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM; and Fasasi Abdullahi Babatunde, the Principal of Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan, have been remanded at the Agodi Custodial Centre.

Makinde also stated that he has received calls from various people asking why the organizers should not be allowed to go free.
