The government of Kwara State has revealed its intention to recruit 1,800 teachers, 100 non-teaching staffs, and 200 security staff to enhance the education sector and create safer school environments throughout the state.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has endorsed the recruitment plan put forward by the Teaching Service Commission, particularly aiming to remedy teacher shortages in rural regions.
The chairman of TESCOM, Bello Abubakar, mentioned that the recruitment process would give priority to candidates with specific qualifications to address shortages in essential subject areas.
This information was shared in a statement by the Press Secretary of TESCOM, Sam Onile, on Friday.

The chairman stressed the importance of closing human resource gaps in schools situated in remote areas.
“The recruitment drive mainly aims to fill personnel shortages in rural educational institutions. Teachers with a focus on STEM subjects will be given preference, along with certain subjects in the Arts and Commerce fields. Applicants are encouraged to apply only for subjects listed on the application portal,” he noted.
He explained that the recruitment process will entail multiple stages, including online applications, a computer-based test, interviews, and peer teaching demonstrations.
“Only candidates who fulfill the criteria will move on to the CBT. Those selected will also need to undergo drug testing, which aligns with the government's commitment to combating drug abuse and safeguarding students from its effects,” Abubakar added.
He also mentioned that applicants must upload a certificate confirming their local government origin and specify their local government of residence at various stages of the process.

Abubakar acknowledged Abdulrazaq’s commitment to revolutionizing public education in the state.
