Every Scholar participates in a weeklong orientation that provides essential career development training, crucial for a smooth transition into the global job market.
Throughout the NHEF Scholars Program, each scholar receives comprehensive training from a carefully chosen group of international facilitators.
The Scholars are placed in internships at our Partner Firms, which usually last 6 to 8 weeks. They also have a strong curriculum promoting ongoing personal and professional growth.

To qualify for the 2025 NHEF Scholars Program, candidates must:
- Be students in their second-to-last year at an NHEF Partner University.
- Demonstrate a balance of achievements in academics, extracurricular activities, and professional experiences.
- Show a deep dedication to community service, philanthropy, and a passion for creating a lasting difference in society.

Application Instructions
Are you interested and eligible? Visit the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) at portal.thenhef.org to submit your application.
Submission Guidelines
All applications must be submitted through the NHEF Application Portal (https://portal.thenhef.org/) no later than 11:59 p.m. (WAT) on March 7, 2025.
Guide for Application Portal:
- Access the NHEF application portal: https://portal.thenhef.org/.
- Create an account by entering your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and password.
- Once you’ve registered, check your registered email inbox for a verification email. Click the link or paste the URL into your browser.
- After validating your account, log in using your email and password.
- Navigate to the application by selecting the APPLY tab from your dashboard.
- Fill in all bio-data and respond to the program essay questions on the application page.
- Applicants should have the following supporting documents ready to upload: a one-page Curriculum Vitae (CV), a one-page Cover Letter, and the latest Statement of Result (all in PDF format).
- Review all answers and submit your application.
- Note: It is recommended that prospective candidates prepare the responses to the application questions in a separate document, like a Word Document, to facilitate easy copying and pasting into the application answer box, as the application cannot be saved and must be completed in one session.
CONFIRMATION OF SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Please note the following methods to verify the successful submission of your application:
- After submission, the applicant’s dashboard will display this message: “Scholars Program – Application Submitted on YY-MM-DD and the time it was submitted.”
- An email confirming the successful submission of the application will be sent to the applicant's email address.
- Additionally, when the Scholars Program application tab on the dashboard is clicked, it will no longer be available.
- These three steps indicate that the application has been submitted successfully.
