The Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers has dismissed claims regarding the unfair distribution of recently recruited teachers within the state.

In a conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan on Monday, the chapter’s chairman, Mr. Raji Oladimeji, refuted the accusation.

He noted that the assignment of the newly recruited teachers was based on the enrollment figures of each school and the existing number of teachers at those institutions.
“They consider how many teachers are already assigned to each school, which is used as a basis for appointing the new teachers.

“Thus, given these factors, the government cannot distribute the teachers in an equal manner,” he stated.
He stated that the Seyi Makinde-led government has accomplished an extraordinary achievement by hiring thousands of teachers, having previously brought on board 5,000 secondary school teachers in 2021.
“We have not fully arrived yet, but I believe the governor has done a great deal for us. He is a significant recruiter in the education field.
“No other government, or any state authority, has approached the level of recruitment we are witnessing in Oyo State within the education sector,” Oladimeji remarked.
He mentioned that the NUT is prepared to collaborate with the state government in providing training for the newly appointed teachers.
According to him, the orientation and awareness of the new teachers will contribute to improved results and performance in the educational sector.
