Oyo State Bursary Beneficiaries Commentaries at the Screening Centre

Some beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the governor for approving scholarships and bursary awards for Oyo State students, highlighting that it has been a long time since students in the state experienced such support from the government.

One of the beneficiaries, Yetunde Ayoola, remarked: “Before receiving the bursary, I was reliant solely on my parents for support. I had never qualified for any scholarships due to age and other criteria.

“However, for this bursary, the only requirement is being an indigene of Oyo State, which has enabled me to qualify. I am incredibly thankful to Governor Seyi Makinde for this initiative that we are now benefiting from.”

Similarly, a beneficiary who introduced himself as Akanbi Mayowa stated, “I am truly appreciative of being selected for the bursary.

It will alleviate the pressure of paying for my final year tuition. This support will significantly impact my education.

“Before I received this bursary, I constantly engaged in various odd jobs while my parents contributed a small amount toward my school fees.

“So, I want to extend my gratitude to the governor for this. He truly stands out as one of the best governors we have in both this state and the nation.”

In a similar context, a Medicine and Surgery student at the University of Ibadan shared, “We are present for the screening process. Over the past several years, we have not received any bursary distributions, and this is our first experience.

“This will be beneficial for us concerning our final year fees as well as our induction costs. Therefore, it comes at a very opportune time.

“For me, this is my first time being a recipient of a bursary like this, and it will be immensely helpful.”
