Nigerian Army Essay Competitions 2025 Application

The Nigerian Army Essay Competition is being organized by the Nigerian Army under the topic “The Nigerian Army: Securing the People and Promoting Development“. The competition is accessible to applicants in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in Nigeria from Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to Monday, March 31, 2025.

The winners of the COAS Literary Competitions 2025 will receive adequate certificates and cash prizes, as follows:

COAS Art Competition

COAS Poetry Competition

Requirements for the Nigerian Army’s 2025 Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Literary Essay Competition

Categories of the Nigerian Army 2025 Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Literary Essay Competitions

The COAS Literary Competitions accept applications from primary school students aged 5-11, secondary school students aged 12-17, and postsecondary institution students aged 18-24. The categories are as follows.

• COAS Essay Competition
• COAS Art Competition.
• COAS Poetry Competition.

The following are the precise entry rules that applicants must rigorously comply with for each competition:

COAS Essay Competition:

• Topics should be derived from the theme (Nigerian Army: Securing the People and Promoting Development).
• The length of the essay for basic and secondary schools should not exceed 2000 words, while those for postsecondary colleges should range from 3000 to 5000 words.
• Essays should be the writer’s original opinions and completed essays should be uploaded here.

COAS Art Competition:

• Artworks must be relevant to the theme (Nigerian Army: Securing the People and Promoting Development).
• All artwork is limited to painting and drawing.
• The artwork should be submitted with a brief caption.
• The submitted pieces must be the artist’s original works and have not been previously published.
• Entries should be snapped/scanned and uploaded no later than 31st March 2025

COAS Poetry Competition:

• Every poetry should be original.
• Poems can be in any genre, but they must be relevant to the competition’s theme.
• Poems should be no more than 200 words long and must be uploaded here.
• All entries must be in the English language.

Selection Process

All entries for the COAS Literary Competitions 2025 will follow the following guidelines:

• There would be two levels of assessment. An initial evaluation to shortlist successful candidates, followed by virtual engagement with a team of assessors before the ultimate selection of winners.
• Any entry deemed to be non-original throughout the screening process will be disqualified from the Competition.
• All entries may be published in NA Journals or Periodicals.

Application forms for primary and secondary schools must be completed online, printed, signed, and stamped by the Head of School, and scanned and shared here. Applicants for tertiary institutions should register online here.Any entries received after the deadline will not be considered. All competition entries must be completely original and free of plagiarism. Winners will be notified via email, school, and published on the website.
