Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Applicants must be Nigerian students who are either from or currently living in Abia State.
2. Candidates must be moving from 100-level to 200-level, or must have gained admission into 200-level through Direct Entry.
3. Applicants must have obtained a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 grading scale after their first academic year.
4. Students studying in public Nigerian tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education) are eligible to apply.

Who Is Not Eligible
Brothers or sisters of current Alex Otti Foundation scholarship beneficiaries cannot apply until the existing scholarship holder has completed their programme.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to prepare and submit the following documents:
- First-year statement of results, officially signed by the Department or Faculty Administrator.
- Proof of residence in Abia State, such as a recent utility bill or a confirmation letter from a community or religious leader.
- A 1,200-word essay divided into three sections of 400 words each, addressing the following topics:
- The impact of Nigeria’s economic situation on you and your family
- Possible actions the three levels of government can take to improve the economy
- A proposed social programme that can assist underprivileged undergraduate students
- A valid form of identification, such as a national ID card, voter’s card, or driver’s licence.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted before midnight on Wednesday, April 2, 2026, Applications that are incomplete will not be reviewed.
Selection Process
Applicants will be evaluated based on the following factors:
- Academic performance and CGPA
- Quality, clarity, and depth of the essay
- Leadership ability and potential
- Dedication to community development and positive societal impact
