The Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (Ekiti TESCOM) has concluded the oral interview and micro-teaching exercises for 1,831 shortlisted candidates seeking employment in public secondary schools across the state.
Speaking at the All Souls Secondary School, Ado-Ekiti, venue of the exercise, the Chairman of TESCOM, Mrs. Rhoda Ojo urged candidates to conduct themselves in an orderly manner while assuring that every qualified applicant would be duly attended to. She emphasized the importance of ICT compliance in modern teaching, stressing that successful candidates must be digitally skilled to meet the needs of today’s learners.
Mrs. Ojo reaffirmed the credibility and transparency of the process, commending Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his support and expressing confidence that the final recruits would meet the expectations of the state and stakeholders in the education sector.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi explained that the micro-teaching session tested candidates’ classroom management, attentiveness, and ability to use teaching materials effectively. Panelists acted as students, while applicants assumed the role of teachers to assess their skills in lesson delivery and class control.

Monitoring the exercise, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun described it as a unique and innovative approach to teacher recruitment. He lauded the adoption of modern teaching methods and noted that it was the third major recruitment exercise in the education sector since Governor Oyebanji assumed office in 2022.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Adeyemi Awoniyi praised the orderliness of the process, expressing optimism about the future of education in the state. Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mr. Michael Boluwade assured candidates that successful applicants would receive their appointment letters by the beginning of the new academic session.
Other government officials, including the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Education and Budget, as well as principals of secondary schools, applauded the smooth conduct of the exercise, describing it as transparent, innovative, and capable of producing competent teachers to strengthen the state’s education system.
Some applicants also expressed satisfaction with the process, commending the commission for providing a well-arranged, fair, and stress-free environment for all participants.
