The Federal Government has clarified that activities leading to the second phase of the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP), known as YEIDEP Batch B, are projected to begin around the middle of 2026, stressing that fresh registration has not yet been opened.
This clarification emerged during a recent engagement with stakeholders, where officials explained that YEIDEP is being rolled out in phases to promote proper oversight, effective monitoring, and long-term sustainability, rather than running multiple registration cycles simultaneously.
Speaking at the engagement, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, stated that the programme is deliberately structured to progress step by step. He noted that preparations for the next phase are expected to commence around mid-year, in line with the Federal Government’s implementation timeline.
According to the minister, earlier stages of YEIDEP have focused heavily on planning, coordination, and system development to ensure that when new beneficiaries are eventually enrolled, the programme operates smoothly without administrative or technical lapses.

Olawande also addressed growing claims on social media suggesting that the YEIDEP portal is already open for Batch B applications. He clarified that no new registration is currently ongoing, adding that Phase Two activities are aligned with mid-2026—roughly June or July—rather than the early part of the year when Phase One processes are still underway.
Government officials said the clarification became necessary following reports that many interested youths have attempted to access the portal without any official announcement authorising new applications.
Programme coordinators further explained that separating the registration phases allows implementing agencies and financial partners to assess performance, resolve challenges, and strengthen operational systems before onboarding another group of beneficiaries.
They added that the phased approach also promotes transparency and sustainability, ensuring that lessons learned from the first rollout are applied to future phases instead of overwhelming the system with simultaneous intakes.

Reiterating the government’s position, the minister emphasized that the phased structure is central to YEIDEP’s objectives, as it helps deliver meaningful impact while maintaining public confidence and institutional credibility.
He assured that the government will continue to provide timely and clear updates, guiding the public on when Batch B registration will officially open and outlining participation procedures at the appropriate time. Officials urged interested youths to remain patient, noting that the sequencing is designed to strengthen outcomes and safeguard public resources as the programme expands nationwide.
