As part of the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative, more than 42,227 young Nigerians have received their first monthly TVET stipend following the distribution of N4.7 billion by the Federal Ministry of Education.
This payment signifies the initiation of direct financial support for trainees nationwide, allowing them to concentrate on their studies without financial burdens.
The N22,500.00 received by each applicants is for transportation and basic living expenses.
In addition to payments for trainees, over 600 independent TVET centres throughout Nigeria have also received funds as part of the first batch of four payment cycles. These funds are meant to support instructional services and skill development for students, ensuring that training centres remain functional and capable of guiding learners.
The Federal Ministry of Education confirmed that this round of payments is the inaugural phase of a sustained funding system that will proceed in stages to ensure the programme’s stability.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, FAMedS, CON, stated that the prompt distribution of financial aid aligns with national leadership priorities.

He mentioned that “the swift initiation of payments under the TVET Initiative demonstrates the President’s directive to actively invest in our youth.” He emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “holds the view that providing our young people with relevant, practical skills is the quickest path to fostering job creation, entrepreneurship, and national economic advancement. This embodies the core of the Renewed Hope Agenda, transforming potential into productivity.”
Since its launch in May, the initiative has evolved from registration to practical learning, with students currently engaged in rigorous technical training. Officials have highlighted that timely funding is essential for maintaining progress and keeping youth fully involved.
TVET continues to be emphasized as a fundamental component of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, based on the belief that Nigerian youth represent the driving force behind national development.
