FG opens 2026 free admission into federal technical colleges nationwide

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has officially announced the commencement of applications for admission into Federal Technical Colleges across Nigeria as part of its drive to promote free, skills-based education for young Nigerians.

The announcement follows the approval of the programme by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON.

According to the Ministry, the initiative is designed to strengthen technical and vocational education in Nigeria by giving students access to practical, industry-relevant skills that can improve employability, self-reliance, and productivity.

Federal Government Technical Colleges 2026 Registration and Examination Dates

Registration for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Technical Colleges will:

  • Open: Monday, 26 January 2026
  • Close: Sunday, 24 May 2026
  • Entrance Examination Date: Saturday, 6 June 2026

The examination will be conducted nationwide.

Important Application Requirements

The Ministry has made it clear that:

  • A valid National Identification Number (NIN) is compulsory for all applicants
  • NIN is a mandatory requirement for successful registration

Education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded by the Federal Government once admission is secured

This move, according to the Ministry, reflects the government’s strong commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment, and national economic growth.

  • Admission is open to candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 years

All interested candidates must complete their application online through the official NABTEB portal.
