As a regular student, you will need the following documents to successfully process your results from the Exam and Record Unit.

What you should consider before you embark on processing your certificate as a student

As a fresh graduate, it is advisable to make sure you have completed your Statement of Results from your institution before you talk of certificate collection.

NOTE: It is okay for you to put your certificate collection on hold for now if you’re planning your one-year compulsory national service. Why? This is because you will need your student identification card at a point in the orientation camp, and if you decide to process your certificate now, it is certain that your student identification card will be withdrawn from you.

Additionally, you are free to go ahead with your certificate collection if you are already 30 years old and you have already applied for an exemption certificate from NYSC.

Step-by-step process involved in the collection of your certificate

If you have already gathered all the requirements needed to process your certificate, like the clearance from your department, clearance from your faculty, clearance from the Main Library (Kenneth Dike), clearance from Student Affairs (1995/1996 to date), clearance from the Admission Office (Undergraduate) and your School ID Card.

Then, follow the remaining step below:

STEP 1: Locate any cybercafé within the school premises for certificate fee payment

You will see a lot of them in your graduated faculty, at the Student Union Building, or around ITEMS.

You should be familiar with all these locations. I just mentioned if you graduate from the University of Ibadan. When you get there, tell them you want to pay for University of Ibadan certificate collection fees via Remita (they already know the right account to pay into).

NOTE: Confirm the person is paying to the appropriate account; if the person doesn’t get it, you can always move to the next available outlet.

The total amount for the certificate collection fee using Remita is ₦8,000, plus the charges for payment; it could be around ₦8,500 or ₦9,000 depending on the charges the person assisting you with the payment charges you.

Once you are done with the payment. Collect your pay receipts, print them out, and remit them.

STEP 2: Changing and conversion of your payment receipt at the cash office

At this point, you will take the receipt you collected above from the computer where you went to pay for the certificate collection fee to the University of Ibadan Cash Office (located at …).

The receipt will be converted to a standard UI receipt, which you will need in the next step below.

NOTE: The receipt conversion could take them a day or a maximum of two days. Kindly bear this in mind beforehand. Clearly ask them when you should come back for it.

STEP 3: Go for preregistration at the UI certificate room beside the old UI bakery along Jaja Clinic

This step is very essential.

Although your certificate payment receipt is still undergoing conversion at the Cash Office, make sure you take this process to avoid massive wasting of your precious time.

Once you reached the cash office. Tell them you’re here to request your “undergraduate/diploma/distance learning/postgraduate programmes certificate.

You will be given a form to fill; ensure you input all the necessary details to avoid error on your certificate.

Once you’re done filling out the form, return it, and they will require your required documents we’ve already mentioned above.

At this point, you will tell them that you are yet to collect your generated original receipt from the University of Ibadan cash office. Submit the documents with you and also show them the copies of receipts you collected from the cybercafé you went to to process the payment.

MORE FOR YOU:

STEP 4: Collect your original UI-generated certificate payment receipt from the cash office

Depending on when you are asked to come back for your original receipts, revisit the venue to pick up your original receipt from them.

STEP 5: Revisit the UI certificate room and tender your original receipt for certificate collection

After this stage, the stress is minimal.

Why? This is because you have already done your preregistration, as I have explained in step 3 above.

What you will just do right now is to submit your original receipt, which you just collected from the UI cash office.

Boom, you are done and ready to collect your certificate.

Most times, you will collect it on the spot, or they might ask you to come the second day.
