The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially activated its recruitment portal for the engagement of ad-hoc staff ahead of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Election.
Applications are being processed through the INECPRES platform, which serves as the official channel for ad-hoc staff registration.
This recruitment exercise is strictly for individuals resident within the FCT, as deployment will be limited to the six Area Councils in Abuja.

Available Ad Hoc Staff Positions
INEC is recruiting qualified applicants to fill the following roles:
- Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
- Presiding Officers (POs)
- Assistant Presiding Officers (APO I, II & III)
- Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHSS)
- Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers
NOTE: Each category has specific eligibility requirements based on professional background and qualifications.
Eligibility Breakdown by Role
Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
Eligible applicants include:
- Permanent staff of the Federal Public or Civil Service and MDAs on Grade Level 10–14
- INEC permanent staff such as Registration Area Officers (RAOs) and other staff on GL 09–14 who are not assigned to other election duties
Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs I–III)
Applicants may qualify if they are:
- Serving NYSC corps members
- Former NYSC members who completed service between 2022 and 2025
- INEC permanent staff on GL 07 or 08
- Permanent staff of federal or state MDAs with OND qualification or on GL 07–10
- Penultimate-year students of federal tertiary institutions
RAC Managers
These positions are reserved for:
- Heads of schools or institutions hosting the RAC or Super RAC
- Qualified staff of such institutions on Grade Level 07 and above
Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHSS)
Only suitable INEC ICT staff at state offices or headquarters who are not engaged in other election responsibilities are eligible.
General Conditions for All Applicants
1. Applicants must not belong to any political party
2. Applicants must not have shown support for any political party or candidate
3. Residency within the FCT is compulsory (except for eligible INEC ICT staff)
4. Applicants must be available for training and election duties as scheduled

- Portal Opens: Monday, 29 December 2025 — 8:00 AM
- Portal Closes: Saturday, 19 January 2026 — 11:59 PM
Late applications will not be considered.
