The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) announced that it has completely digitized its Student Loan Application System (SLAS) to enhance and expedite the loan processing experience for both institutions and applicants.

“As the result of this upgrade, all accredited institutions must now request access to SLAS in order to verify and upload student information pertinent to loan applications.

This is a crucial step that enables the swift processing and distribution of approved student loans,” said NELFUND in a statement from its Director of Corporate Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi.

After receiving access, institutions will be able to view a real-time dashboard of their students’ loan applications, validate the data submitted, and monitor the status of each application.

“We encourage all institutions to act quickly in the best interest of their students, as the verification and upload of data by the institutions are essential steps before final approval and disbursement can take place,” the statement expressed.

About Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND)

The introduction of the student loan initiative is a major project of President Bola Tinubu in the education sector.

Shortly after his inauguration, Tinubu endorsed the Access to Higher Education Act, which establishes a legal framework for providing loans to underprivileged or low-income Nigerians to assist with their educational expenses in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

This law, which has been reinstated, led to the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
