Categories of CDS in NYSC

CDS is mainly be divided into two main categories, which are Group CDS and Individual or Personal CDS.

Group CDS

Group CDS occurs when corps members are being posted into specific groups with defined objectives to attain and achieve corporate goal.

NYSC Group CDS meetings are usually held once a week, in some Local Government it do falls into Thursday while some others and each group works on projects, campaigns, or awareness programs in line with the mission of the group in specific.

Individual CDS (Personal CDS)

Talking about, Individual CDS, it is an initiative where an individual corps member identifies a need in their host community, and executes a personal project, e.g., building boreholes, organizing literacy classes, or donating educational materials.

1. Editorial and Publicity CDS

2. Drug Free and Quality Control CDS

5. Charity CDS

6. Sports CDS

Corps members could organize inter-platoon and inter-community sports competitions.

7. Culture and Tourism CDS

Another important list of NYSC CDS os Culture and Tourism CDS. This CDS promotes Nigeria’s cultural heritage, dances, and traditions.

8. ICT CDS (Information and Communication Technology)

Corp members join others legal practitioners to sensitizes people about their rights and responsibilities.

Legal Aid CDS usually includes corps members from law backgrounds, but open to all.
