The 2025 Batch B Pre-Mobilization Workshop of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was held in Abuja with the theme: “Strengthening the NYSC Mobilization Process through Improved Technology and Collaboration with Stakeholders.”

During the event, NYSC Director Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu addressed the challenges still facing the mobilization process, including submission of unqualified or part-time graduates, data inconsistencies from institutions, and technical issues that delay registration. He stressed the Corps’ continued efforts to modernize operations in line with Nigeria’s changing educational landscape.

As it stands, the number of people we already have those who have uploaded their information. I believe is enough to take us through Batch B.
So, we are likely not going to open the portal for Senate list uploads until Batch C. Yes, that’s the current plan.
The NYSC does not generate corps members; you are the corps-producing institutions. And I acknowledge that when the government licenses corps-producing institutions, there’s typically a lag of about four to five years before those schools begin graduating students. You are then the ones transferring these students to us.
Therefore, we need to work more closely with you to gather accurate data that will help us plan. You know, there was a time when we had only two batches a year, right? But now, we have three batches and six streams annually.
Eventually, we may find ourselves increasing the number of streams beyond six to accommodate the growing number of PCMs coming onboard. As we all know, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Today’s problem often stems from yesterday’s solution. So, whenever there’s a government intervention such as approving more universities or institutions. We should always consider the potential unintended consequences that may arise four or five years down the line. It’s not our doing; we are not the ones producing these graduates, you are.
Essentially, you’re transferring this risk to us, and we have to manage it accordingly.
That’s what we are trying to do. We’re working hard to communicate with prospective corps members, to persuade them and help them understand the process.
We’ve also noticed a trend: some people, for one reason or another, perhaps they weren’t posted to their preferred state, choose not to report to camp, expecting to be remobilized for the next stream.
In response, we implemented a policy: if you miss camp, you will have to go to the back of the queue.
So, please advise your students: if they fail to report to camp, they will not be remobilized in the next stream. They will only be considered after we have exhausted the list of those who have already served.
You are here to serve the nation, you don’t get to dictate where you will serve. Once you’re posted, go for your service and get it done within one year.
