The Osun State Government has mandated that “Nigeria, We hail thee,” the revived national anthem recently approved by President Bola Tinubu, be recited in both public and private schools within the state.

The directive was found in a statement received in Osogbo on Friday and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Murtala Jimoh.
To reinstate the previous national song, “Nigeria, We hail thee,” President Tinubu signed the National song bill into law on Wednesday.

According to the state government’s announcement, Jimoh ordered all state schools to make sure they start reciting the National Anthem during their morning assembly.
“All heads of schools in both private and public schools to ensure their pupils/students learn the Anthem and begin to sing it henceforth,” the Permanent Secretary subsequently requested in the release.
“It is pertinent for schools throughout Osun State to comply with this directive as the Federal Government recently approved a new National Anthem for the country,” the statement stated.
Therefore, all school administrators—public and private—should make sure that their respective institutions are in conformity.
“It is expected that they will perform the new Anthem at their various morning assemblies, and they should do this out of duty.”
