The Tony Elumelu Foundation is a leading African philanthropic organization dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs across the continent. Built on the principle of Africapitalism, the idea that Africa’s private sector holds the key to sustainable development.
The foundation has supported over 20,000 entrepreneurs in all 54 African countries since its launch in 2015. For the 2026 cycle, the programme continues its mission by helping early-stage founders turn ideas into sustainable enterprises that contribute to economic resilience, innovation, and job creation.
What Selected Entrepreneurs Receive
Participants in the 2026 TEF Entrepreneurship Programme benefit from a complete support package that goes beyond funding.
1. Seed Capital
Successful applicants receive $5,000 in non-refundable funding to invest directly in their business, whether for operations, product development, or market expansion.
2. Business Training
Entrepreneurs undergo structured online training through TEFConnect, covering essential topics such as business planning, financial management, operations, marketing, and growth strategy.
3. Mentorship Support
Each participant is paired with experienced mentors who provide practical advice, industry insights, and strategic guidance throughout the programme.
4. Networking and Exposure
The programme offers access to a strong network of fellow entrepreneurs, investors, partners, and global opportunities, helping founders expand beyond local markets.

Who Is Eligible to Apply
The TEF Entrepreneurship Programme 2026 is open to entrepreneurs who meet the following conditions:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be a citizen or legal resident of an African country
- Business must be based in Africa
- Business should be early-stage (0–5 years old)
- Open to all sectors, including agriculture, technology, services, manufacturing, health, creative industries, and more
The programme actively encourages participation from women entrepreneurs and founders from Francophone, Lusophone, and Arabic-speaking regions.

Only applications submitted before the deadline will be considered. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed based on the feasibility, scalability, and potential impact of their business ideas.
