The University of Abuja, now officially renamed Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, has announced internal and external recruitment into various academic and non-teaching positions. The institution is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
The recruitment exercise will run for six weeks from the date of publication (Friday November 21, 2025), and all applications must be submitted online via

The official application deadline is Friday January 2, 2026.
The university is recruiting into multiple academic ranks including Graduate Assistant, Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer I & II, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor across the following faculties: Health Sciences, Nursing and Allied Sciences, Science, Communication and Media Studies, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Geography and Atmospheric Sciences, Arts, Engineering, and Veterinary Medicine.

Each position has specific qualification requirements, ranging from a minimum of Second Class Upper for Graduate Assistants to PhD holders with extensive publications and experience for senior academic roles.
Candidates applying for professorial positions must have evidence of academic leadership, research supervision, and a Google Scholar h-index as specified.
Non-teaching positions are also open, including Academic Technologist, Data Analyst, Accountant, Legal Officer, System Analyst, Network Engineer, Nursing Officer, Civil Engineer, Architect, Higher Executive Officer, Confidential Secretary, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Higher Technical Officer, and Clerical Officer. Each role requires the appropriate academic qualification, professional certification, and relevant work experience.
