The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced plans to send its IT teams to educational institutions throughout Nigeria to facilitate direct integration with their student portals.

This information was shared by Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of NELFUND, during a workshop and stakeholder engagement event held on Tuesday in Abuja.

To streamline the student loan application process, Sawyerr mentioned that this proposed integration would enable students to apply for loans directly via their school portals, removing the necessity to visit NELFUND’s website.

This achievement demonstrates the positive outcomes of collaborative efforts among the government, institutions, and stakeholders in tackling the financial difficulties faced by students in Nigeria.

He stressed that this initiative aligns with NELFUND’s broader objective of empowering current youth by investing in their education, which he views as essential for the nation’s future development.

A move towards lowering educational barriers

The funds being disbursed are part of NELFUND’s ongoing initiative to offer interest-free loans to students who require assistance.

Sawyerr emphasized that this financial support aims to reduce barriers to higher education in Nigeria, enabling students to focus on their studies without financial pressure.

“Education is the cornerstone of any prosperous society, and we are here to support this institution in nurturing the academic progress of our youth,” he remarked.
