TISSF loan portal now opened!

The Federal Government has launched the application portal for the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), an interest-free loan scheme for academic and non-academic staff in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

The announcement was made by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President, confirming that the portal is now live via tissf.education.gov.ng.

According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the programme is part of the National Education Sector Renewal Implementation (NESRI) framework aimed at improving staff welfare, fostering professional development, and promoting financial stability.

Beneficiaries can access loans of up to ₦10 million, repayable over five years, with a one-year grace period before repayment begins. The loan is capped at 33.3% of a beneficiary’s gross annual salary.

The TISSF covers needs such as transportation, medical care, small-scale business ventures (e.g., poultry farming), accommodation, family support, and academic advancement. The scheme is implemented in partnership with the Bank of Industry to ensure transparency.
