The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos has announced vacancies for two (2) Non-Immigrant/Immigrant Visa Assistant positions at its Consular Office. The opportunity is open to eligible and qualified candidates seeking full-time employment with the U.S. Mission in Nigeria.
The positions fall under Announcement Number: Lagos-2026-004 and are based in Lagos. Successful candidates will work 40 hours per week and support the Consular Section in delivering visa services to applicants across southern Nigeria.
The role offers an annual salary of USD 19,951, alongside the opportunity to work in a fast-paced international diplomatic environment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Visa Assistant will handle a wide range of duties related to non-immigrant and immigrant visa processing. Key responsibilities include:
- Data entry and document review
- Visa printing and passport manifesting
- Correspondence handling
- Customer service support for visa applicants
- General office and administrative tasks
The position requires high attention to detail, strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work under pressure.
Selected candidates will be cross-trained to handle multiple visa-related functions depending on operational needs.

Eligibility Requirements
1. Education
Completion of at least two years of college or university studies is required.
2. Experience
Minimum of two years’ experience involving regulations or law application, public interaction, customer service, or problem-solving roles.
3. Language Requirement
Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
Fluent in at least one Nigerian language: Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa
4. Technical Skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Outlook
Basic knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
Strong written communication skills in English and local language

Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
- Must pass background investigation (and possibly medical examination)
- Must be able to resume within 6 weeks of receiving clearance
