The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), in collaboration with YouLead Africa and Restless Development, has opened applications for 20 Youth Technical Experts to support a continental review of the African Youth Charter at 20.
This initiative gives young Africans a direct role in evaluating youth-focused policies and contributing to governance discussions across the continent.
Selected participants will engage in policy assessment and research focused on how African countries are implementing youth development commitments.

Their work will contribute to major continental outputs, including the APRM Africa Governance Report 2027 and a policy brief to be unveiled during International Youth Day 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess implementation of the African Youth Charter across countries

- Identify policy gaps affecting young people
- Engage with youth stakeholders and consultation platforms
- Develop research reports and policy recommendations

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants MUST meet the following requirements:
- Age: 18–35 years
- Citizen of an African Union member state
- Active in youth, civic, academic, or development spaces
- Available between May and August 2026
- Strong communication skills (English or French required)
- Additional languages like Portuguese, Arabic, or Swahili are an advantage
