The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) has opened applications for its 2026 Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP).
It is a fully funded six-month opportunity designed for young graduates interested in civil society and development work. The programme will run from July to December 2026 and is open to applicants from Nigeria, Guinea, Niger, and Togo.
Participants will gain practical, hands-on experience by working directly on real development projects, policy initiatives, and capacity-building programs.

While applicants from Guinea, Niger, and Togo will be hosted in Accra with accommodation provided, Nigerian applicants will be based in Abuja and must already reside there.
What You Will Do
Successful applicants will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Support programme design, research, and implementation
- Assist in policy development, advocacy, and reporting
- Contribute to training sessions, workshops, and stakeholder engagement
- Develop concept notes, policy briefs, and technical documents
- Provide administrative and operational support
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026, applicants MUST meet the criteria listed below:
- Minimum of a first degree in relevant fields (e.g., Political Science, Law, Development Studies)
- Fresh graduate or early-career professional
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet tools
Added Advantage:
- Ability to speak multiple languages (English + French/Portuguese)
- Strong teamwork and adaptability skills
