Applications are now officially open for the 2026 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship Programme. It is a fully funded educational support initiative targeted at female Nigerian students pursuing careers in STEM, Teaching, and Nursing.
The scholarship, powered by the Opekete Foundation, is designed to provide financial assistance and academic support to outstanding young women in public secondary schools and universities across Nigeria. The initiative aims to empower more girls through education while encouraging careers that can drive long-term national development and community impact.
The Opekete Foundation established the scholarship in honour of Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (1921–2021), with a mission focused on improving access to education and healthcare for women and young people in Nigeria.

Through the FBM Scholarship Programme, selected students will receive annual financial support to help cover educational expenses and reduce financial barriers affecting their academic journey.
2026 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship Value
Successful applicants will receive:
- ₦350,000 annually for Secondary School Students
- ₦650,000 annually for University Undergraduate Students
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
1. Be a female Nigerian citizen
2. Have gained admission or currently be enrolled in a public secondary school or public university
3. Be studying or intending to study:
- STEM-related courses
- Teaching/Education
- Nursing

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 distinctions (A or B grades) in Junior WAEC, including:

1. Minimum of 5 distinctions (A1–B3) in WAEC/NECO (one sitting), including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Three other relevant subjects
Must meet the JAMB cut-off mark for their chosen institution and course
