Applications are now open for the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP) 2026, an international volunteer initiative that provides young professionals from ECOWAS Member States with the opportunity to contribute to regional development, peacebuilding, and integration efforts across West Africa.

The programme is currently recruiting for the position of Communication and Visibility Specialist, offering successful applicants a 12-month international volunteer placement along with a monthly allowance of $412.50 (or its equivalent in local currency) and other approved benefits.

About the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP)

The ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP) is one of the flagship initiatives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The programme was established to mobilize qualified young professionals to support development projects that promote peace, regional integration, and sustainable development within ECOWAS Member States.

Available Position

Applications are invited for the following role of Communication and Visibility Specialist (International Volunteer)

Successful candidates will support communication and public awareness activities under the ECOWAS Peace Fund and contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening peacebuilding and regional cooperation.

Contract Duration

Successful applicants will be engaged for 12 Months

Monthly Allowance

Selected volunteers will receive financial support throughout the duration of the assignment, including:

Key Responsibilities

The Communication and Visibility Specialist will play an important role in promoting ECOWAS programmes and strengthening stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support communication and visibility activities under the ECOWAS Peace Fund.
  • Promote peacebuilding and regional integration initiatives.
  • Develop communication materials and visibility strategies.
  • Support the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement and public awareness campaigns.
  • Assist in communicating programme achievements and activities to relevant audiences.

Eligibility Requirements

Before applying, interested candidates should ensure they meet the programme’s eligibility criteria.

  • Be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member State.
  • Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience.
  • Have at least two (2) years of experience working with an international organization.
  • Hold relevant academic qualifications and specialized professional skills related to the position.

Meeting these requirements is essential before submitting an application.

  • Signed application or motivation letter addressed to the Director, EYSDC.
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Copies of academic certificates and diplomas.

  • Police Clearance Certificate issued within the last three months before assumption of duty.
