The Federal Government has announced plans to conclude the onboarding of the remaining eight million beneficiaries under the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) within the first quarter of 2026.
This milestone will bring the total number of beneficiaries in the programme’s first phase to 20 million nationwide.
The update was disclosed at a recent stakeholders’ engagement organised by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, where government officials provided an overview of progress made so far and outlined timelines for the next stage of the programme.
The meeting brought together key partners and coordinators to assess nationwide implementation efforts and align strategies ahead of full rollout.
Speaking at the engagement, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, confirmed that onboarding of the outstanding beneficiaries is a top priority and will be completed early in 2026.
He explained that YEIDEP was intentionally designed to run in phases to ensure proper coordination, transparency, and effective monitoring across all participating institutions at both national and subnational levels.

According to the minister, the phased approach is meant to prevent operational gaps and duplication, while allowing for accurate tracking of beneficiaries across regions. He noted that the past year was largely dedicated to planning, stakeholder engagement, and gradual onboarding, stressing that thorough preparation is essential for successful programme delivery.
Olawande added that focusing on groundwork and systems development would strengthen accountability and reduce implementation errors as the programme expands. He said this strategy is expected to support smooth execution as YEIDEP transitions into its impact-driven phase.
Officials further explained that 2026 will mark a shift from planning to full-scale implementation, with early completion of onboarding seen as critical to achieving the programme’s objectives. Capturing all beneficiaries before advancing to subsequent stages is expected to improve coordination across participating sectors nationwide.
Earlier, the YEIDEP Coordinator-General, Kennedy Iyere, also expressed confidence in the programme’s readiness, noting that planning and system development have been completed. He stated that YEIDEP is now positioned for a large-scale rollout focused on delivering measurable economic and social outcomes for young Nigerians.
