The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, has launched the Happy Woman App Platform as part of the nationwide scale-up of the Nigeria for Women Programme (NFWP).

The platform was unveiled at the Presidential launch of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project in Abuja and represents a significant move to strengthen women’s economic inclusion across all 36 states and the FCT.

What the Happy Woman App Is About

The Happy Woman App is a secure, centralized digital platform designed to simplify how women access economic and social support. It serves as a single access point where women can engage with multiple programmes that were previously delivered through fragmented and uncoordinated channels.

The platform builds on a successful pilot phase of the Nigeria for Women Programme, which was implemented in six states and reached over one million women beneficiaries.

Key Features of the Happy Woman Platform

Women registered on the platform will gain access to:

  • Financing opportunities, including special-interest loans to support business growth
  • A curated digital marketplace offering relevant products, services, deals, and discounts
  • Skills development and capacity-building tools
  • Business growth support and structured market access
  • Links to government interventions, social protection initiatives, and essential services

These features are designed to reduce long-standing barriers that have limited women’s participation in formal economic activities and public-sector programmes.

By integrating these services, the platform is expected to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability while enabling real-time tracking of beneficiaries and data-driven decision-making.

Government and Partner Reactions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, described digital inclusion as essential to national competitiveness, stressing that women must remain central to national development planning for sustainable growth and social stability.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, said the programme reflects a policy shift that recognises women as key drivers of economic growth, social cohesion, and democratic stability, describing the platform as a critical inclusion tool.

The World Bank also welcomed the initiative, noting that placing women at the centre of development planning is vital for long-term productivity, stability, and prosperity.

Nationwide Implementation and Partnerships

State governments are expected to support the rollout through counterpart funding and local delivery structures. The Federal Government said nationwide deployment of the platform will improve coordination among institutions while expanding access to verified support for women.

Through partnerships with development institutions and financial service providers, the platform will also promote:
