The aim behind the programme is to equip young Nigerians with practical skills, tools, and seed (fund) support to create jobs, transform waste into eco-friendly products, and actively participate in Nigeria’s growing circular economy.
The Federal Government initiative has placed youth at the centre of environmental transformation by supporting climate-responsive ideas that address waste management challenges in the nation while generating sustainable income.

Federal Government Youth Empowerment Initiative for Climate Action 2026 Overview
This initiative is birthed as a result of increased environmental and waste management pressures due to rapid population growth and urbanisation.
Therefore, the programme seeks to turn these challenges into opportunities by empowering young people to develop waste-to-wealth solutions that support sustainable development and climate action.
The programme aims to:
- Support youth-led innovations in waste reduction, recycling, and upcycling
- Create climate-smart jobs driven by environmental needs
- Promote circular-economy and sustainable consumption models

Benefits of the Programme
1. Startup Support
FG will fund successful applicants with the financial support to turn waste-to-wealth ideas into viable businesses. The support will also include guidance on production and business development.

Hands-on training in waste management, circular economy practices, and climate-adapted business skills.

As a result of this FG initiative, Youth will gain the capacity to produce market-ready, eco-friendly products that generate income and employment.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be young Nigerians interested in climate action or waste-to-wealth solutions
- Have a passion for sustainability, recycling, upcycling, or circular economy initiatives
- Be school leavers, young innovators, early-stage entrepreneurs, or climate advocates
- Have access to the internet to complete the online application
No strict educational or business background is required. Innovators with ideas or existing solutions in waste management are encouraged to apply.

The application is really quite simple and straightforward and all you need is your NIN Slip and Recent Passport. The recommended size for successful upload is 25KB.
