The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), has released an updated list of approved and licensed digital loan apps for Nigerians.

The move is aimed at protecting Nigerians from illegal loan operators, improving transparency, and ensuring that only properly regulated digital lenders operate within the country’s fast-growing fintech space.

The Commission explained that the updated register is part of its ongoing effort to:

  • Curb the activities of illegal loan apps
  • Protect consumers from harassment, data abuse, and exploitation
  • Promote responsible and transparent digital lending
  • Clean up Nigeria’s digital lending ecosystem

The FCCPC stated that only companies and apps that have fully complied with its rules and consumer protection guidelines are included in the approved list.
