Governor Biodun Oyebanji has initiated a digital literacy training aimed at providing 1,000 young individuals in Ekiti State with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competencies.
The initiative, referred to as the Ekiti Digital Accelerated Programme, is facilitated by the Ministry of Youth Development in partnership with Motivar.

During the programme’s launch in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of the state, Oyebanji, represented by his Chief of Staff, Adeniyi Adebayo, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering youth development.
The governor highlighted that this initiative addresses two critical elements of his six-pillar agenda: youth development and job creation.
He explained that the programme aims to ensure that young people aged 15 to 20 become proficient in computer skills and gain competencies that will enhance their employability, marketability, and utility to themselves and society.

“This initiative targets two aspects of one of the essential pillars of the governor’s agenda towards fostering shared prosperity in Ekiti state, specifically youth development and job creation.
“Our goal is to equip the youth with skills they can market, making them employable and capable of supporting themselves and earning a livelihood,” the governor stated.
He revealed that his administration has taken steps to enhance access to digital literacy, which includes improving power supply, establishing digital centers, and integrating technology into educational curricula.

The Commissioner for Youth Development in the state, Adesola Gold Adedayo, described the programme as a crucial achievement in preparing young people for the challenges and possibilities of a digital future.
Adedayo stressed that this programme will unveil potential, provide access to the global digital economy, and empower youths to become tech entrepreneurs, remote workers, and digital consultants.
Mayowa Akinleye, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Motivar, praised the Ekiti State Government for launching the programme, noting that it will tackle the issue of inadequate access to digital literacy among youth in Africa.
