Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the disbursement of N596.6 million in car and housing loans to 807 staff members, both teaching and non-teaching, in the public secondary schools throughout the state.
Michael Boluwade, the Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, made this announcement in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, emphasizing that this initiative aims to enhance the welfare of the beneficiaries and uplift their active participation and involvement.
Boluwade explained that “of the total amount approved for distribution, N381.5 million is designated for car loans for 382 recipients, while N215.1 million will be allocated as a new tranche of housing loans for 425 recipients.”
“The loans, which align with the newly approved rate reflecting a 100 percent increase by the governor, will be disbursed to eligible personnel of the commission,” he added.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for endorsing additional funds to support the revolving fund of the commission’s Loans Board in facilitating the new disbursement rates.
He urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds for their intended purposes, reminding them that repayment will occur through direct deductions from their monthly salaries.

It is noteworthy that during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration, Oyebanji stated that his government had enacted programs and policies that effectively improved workers’ welfare.
He mentioned initiatives such as the distribution of N400 million in housing and vehicle loans to over 1,447 teaching and non-teaching staff, the hiring of 930 subject teachers in public secondary schools, the employment of more than 1,500 primary school teachers and 48 education officers, and the approval of career progression for primary school teachers up to grade level 16.
Additional initiatives he highlighted included upgrades to infrastructure, capacity development programs, the approval and payment of minimum wage, among others.
