The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has officially announced the commencement of applications for admission into Federal Technical Colleges across Nigeria as part of its drive to promote free, skills-based education for young Nigerians.
The announcement follows the approval of the programme by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON.
According to the Ministry, the initiative is designed to strengthen technical and vocational education in Nigeria by giving students access to practical, industry-relevant skills that can improve employability, self-reliance, and productivity.

Federal Government Technical Colleges 2026 Registration and Examination Dates
Registration for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Technical Colleges will:
- Open: Monday, 26 January 2026
- Close: Sunday, 24 May 2026
- Entrance Examination Date: Saturday, 6 June 2026
The examination will be conducted nationwide.

Important Application Requirements
The Ministry has made it clear that:
- A valid National Identification Number (NIN) is compulsory for all applicants
- NIN is a mandatory requirement for successful registration
Education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded by the Federal Government once admission is secured
This move, according to the Ministry, reflects the government’s strong commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment, and national economic growth.
Who Can Apply?
- Admission is open to candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 years
- Parents, guardians, and applicants are advised to follow all official guidelines strictly
- Applicants should obtain information only from official sources of the Federal Ministry of Education and relevant examination bodies

How to Apply for Federal Government Technical Colleges 2026 Admission
All interested candidates must complete their application online through the official NABTEB portal.
The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed that this programme is part of its long-term plan to expand access to free, quality technical education, equip young Nigerians with practical skills, encourage self-reliance, and support sustainable national development.
