Applications are now open for the African Liberty Writing Fellowship 2026–2027, a 12-month paid programme designed to support and develop emerging African writers.
This fellowship focuses on helping young talents build strong writing skills while contributing to important conversations around freedom, individual rights, and governance across the continent.
The programme will run from July 2026 to July 2027, offering a structured writing and publishing experience.

Selected fellows will work closely with experienced editors, gaining guidance on professional writing standards while producing articles that can be published in leading African media outlets.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be Africans currently studying in a higher institution or graduates
- Africans studying outside the continent are also eligible
- Have a strong interest in writing and contributing to public discourse
