The Federal Government has scheduled April 8, 2026, as the official date for the commencement of fresh registrations into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, putting an end to earlier uncertainty around the portal opening.

Although previous reports hinted at an April rollout without a confirmed timeline, it has now been clarified that interested applicants can begin registration from April 8 as preparations for a new training cycle are finalized.

This new phase aligns with the introduction of an upgraded TVET curriculum tailored for the 2026 cohort, with a strong focus on equipping Nigerian youths with practical, in-demand skills, especially within the creative and tourism industries.

The TVET programme, driven by the Federal Ministry of Education, remains a key strategy to combat unemployment by promoting hands-on training, entrepreneurship, and job creation across various sectors.

Graduates of the programme are also expected to receive starter packs to kick-start their careers, along with access to financial support in the form of business loans to expand their ventures.

The updated curriculum, developed in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, is designed to connect trainees directly to real job opportunities in fast-growing sectors such as fashion, media, leatherwork, hospitality, and tourism.

Government projections suggest that the initiative could generate over 4 million job opportunities, reinforcing its role as a major driver of youth empowerment and economic growth.

Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to stay updated through official government platforms and avoid relying on unverified information as registration begins on April 8.
