Application for the Nigerian Army Short Service Combatant Commission Course 50/2027 Recruitment now begins nationwide. The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, offering qualified Nigerians an opportunity to be commissioned as officers after successful completion of military training.
The recruitment is open to qualified civilians as well as serving military personnel who meet the prescribed requirements.
Successful officer cadets will be commissioned into the Nigerian Army and may serve in combat arms such as Infantry and Armour Corps, as well as combat support arms including Artillery, Engineers, Signals and Intelligence Corps.

Entry Requirements
Before applying, candidates should carefully confirm that they meet the age, academic, physical and documentation requirements, as failure to satisfy any of the conditions may lead to disqualification.
- Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Must be male or female aged 23–27 years as of 10 January 2027.
- Must be medically, mentally and physically fit according to Nigerian Army standards.
- Must possess a First Degree with at least Second Class Lower Division or an HND with at least Lower Credit in relevant disciplines from an accredited institution.
- Only tertiary academic qualifications obtained from 2018 to date will be considered.
- Must be at least 1.68 metres tall for males and 1.65 metres for females.
- Must not have been convicted by any court of law.
- Serving military personnel must not have any disciplinary case and must be endorsed by their Commanding Officer/Commander.
- Must possess a valid birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission, hospital or Local Government Council, or a valid age declaration.
- Must possess a valid certificate of state of origin.
- Civilian applicants must possess an NYSC discharge certificate, while serving military personnel are required to present an NYSC exemption certificate.
- Must not have body inscriptions or tattoos.
- Must not belong to any cult, secret society or fraternity.
- Must not have been dismissed or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any military or paramilitary training institution.
- Must provide valid contact details of parents/guardians and next of kin.
Additional Requirements for Applicants
The Nigerian Army also requires applicants to provide evidence that supports their character, academic background and service status where applicable.
1. Civilian applicants must provide a Letter of Attestation from their degree-awarding institution.
2. Civilian applicants must provide references from at least two recognised referees who are either:
- Local Government Chairman/Secretary; or
- An Armed Forces officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent; or
- An Assistant Commissioner of Police from the applicant’s state of origin.
3. Passport photographs of the referees must be attached to their letters of attestation.
4. Serving military personnel must provide valid military identity cards.
5. Serving personnel must provide letters of recommendation from their Commanding Officers/Commanders.

7. Serving personnel are required to declare their service status in accordance with the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Conditions of Service
Applicants should understand that this is a military commission with defined service obligations, not simply a short-term employment opportunity.
- SSCC will be granted for 15 years.
- The initial bonding period is 5 years.
- The commission may be renewed for periods of not less than five years.
- There will be no extension beyond the 15-year commission period except through conversion to a Regular Combatant Commission where applicable.
- Officer cadets who successfully complete military training will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants, with seniority effective from the date they commence cadet training.
- SSCC officers may have the opportunity to convert to a Regular Combatant Commission, but conversion is not automatic and depends on vacancy and other applicable criteria.
- Successful officer cadets must accept the terms and conditions governing SSCC before being commissioned.
- For civilians who become commissioned officers, the reckonable period of service begins from the date of commencement of cadet training.

Step 1: Visit: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng/
Step 2: Select the SSCC option and carefully read the recruitment conditions.
Step 3: Click on the “Apply Now” button to begin your application.
Step 4: Indicate whether you are currently serving or have previously served in the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Step 5: Create an account using your email address. A verification link will be sent to your email.
Step 6: Verify your email, log in and complete the online application form.
Step 7: Upload the required documents, including:
- Recent passport photograph.
- Educational certificates.
- Certificate of state of origin.
- Birth certificate or age declaration.
- NIN slip.
- BVN slip.

Printing and Submission of Application Form
After successfully completing the online application, applicants are required to print the generated photo-slip.
The printed application form must be properly signed before it can be used for subsequent stages of the recruitment process.
- The first page should be signed by the Registrar of any Court of Law.
- The second page should be signed by the appropriate Local Government Chairman/Secretary, or an eligible military officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel/equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police from the applicant’s state of origin.
Successful applicants will be expected to present their printed application forms, photographs, guarantors’ forms, attestation forms and other required documents during the selection/interview stage.
