The Office of the Kogi Central Senatorial District has officially opened applications for the Electric Motor Vehicle Technical Training Programme under its Operate and Own empowerment scheme.
The initiative is targeted at indigenes and residents of Kogi Central who are interested in acquiring practical technical skills while building a sustainable source of income through clean energy transportation.
This programme is part of ongoing efforts to promote youth empowerment, job creation, and environmentally friendly innovation within the district.

About the Programme
A total of 100 qualified participants will be selected for this special training programme.
Beneficiaries will receive intensive hands-on training on the operation, handling, and maintenance of electric and solar-powered tricycles. The training is designed to equip participants with both technical and practical knowledge required to work confidently with eco-friendly vehicles.
What makes this initiative unique is the Operate and Own Model. After completing the training, participants will not only have the skills but also the opportunity to own and manage the vehicles, creating a long-term means of livelihood.
This programme is positioned as a purpose-driven empowerment initiative that combines skill acquisition, clean energy adoption, and income generation.

Objectives of the Initiative
The training programme aims to:
- Reduce unemployment in Kogi Central
- Promote clean and sustainable transportation

- Equip participants with practical technical skills
And finally, it is meant to support long-term income generation through vehicle ownership
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Requirements)
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must be an indigene or resident of any Local Government Area in Kogi Central
- Basic knowledge of electrical or solar systems will be an added advantage
- Must possess at least an O’Level certificate
- Additional qualifications such as OND, HND, or BSc will be considered an advantage
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years driving experience
- Must be physically and mentally fit to undergo the training
