Who Can Apply?

Petroleum Technology Development Scholarship (PTDF) 2026/2027 goes for both Undergraduates, MSc and PhD Nigerian students.

For Undergraduate Students

Applicants must:

  • Be full-time students in a Nigerian public university
  • Be currently in 200 level
  • Study a course related to the oil and gas or management sector
  • Have at least five (5) credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Possess a minimum CGPA of 2.4/5.0 (Second Class Lower)
  • Provide first-year academic transcripts, duly signed and stamped

For Postgraduates (MSc Applicants)

Applicants must have the following:

  • Possess a full-time admission letter
  • Hold a minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2)
  • Study a relevant oil and gas/management course
  • Meet O’Level requirements (maximum of two sittings)
  • Provide NYSC certificate or exemption letter
  • Submit a certificate of indigeneship
  • Provide a personal statement (minimum 1,000 words)

For PhD Applicants

Applicants MUST:

  • Have a Master’s degree with at least Merit
  • Meet all O’Level and NYSC requirements
  • Submit a research proposal (maximum 6 pages)

The Selection process for the Petroleum Technology Development Scholarship, is based on academic merit, professional qualifications, and the quality and relevance of applicants’ study or research plans.

MSc and undergraduate applicants must demonstrate clear purpose and industry relevance, while PhD candidates will be evaluated on the strength and feasibility of their research proposals.
