The Federal Government has officially postponed the commencement of Cohort 2 training under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme to the first week of June 2026.
The update was communicated to trainees and training centres through notices and messages shared by participating centres across the country.
According to reports, Batch B trainees were initially expected to resume training on May 18, 2026, but several centres have now informed applicants that the new resumption period is expected to fall around June 1 or June 2, although the exact official date is yet to be formally announced by authorities.

Why the TVET Training Was Postponed
The postponement appears to be connected to ongoing preparations, enrolment verification, and administrative coordination among participating training centres.
Some centres disclosed that official communication did not reach all locations at the same time, leading to delays in the original commencement schedule.
Despite the postponement, the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) reportedly confirmed that applications for the TVET programme are still ongoing while preparations continue for the next phase of training activities.
Important Warning to Trainees and Training Centres
As part of the latest directives, the government warned centres against marking applicants as fully registered if they have not physically resumed for biometric capturing and training enrolment.
According to the notice:
Applicants already marked as registered but who have not completed biometric enrolment may be removed from the system.
The update specifically stated:
“Anyone marked as registered BUT yet to be enrolled on the Biometrics will be wiped off next week.”
This means applicants are advised to monitor updates from their training centres closely and ensure they complete all required enrolment procedures immediately once physical resumption begins.

New Directives for Training Centres
The Federal Ministry of Education also issued additional instructions to participating centres regarding assessments and quality assurance requirements.
Training centres were directed to:
- Upload adequate Quality Assurance Assessors (QAA) reports
- Upload Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) reports
- Prepare properly for final assessment activities
The government added that awarding bodies will review submitted reports before visiting centres for official assessment exercises.
No Payment Required for Final Assessments
The ministry also clarified that centres are not expected to make payments to awarding bodies for final assessments.
Any centre that has already paid assessment-related fees was advised to request a refund immediately.
This clarification is aimed at preventing unauthorised charges and ensuring compliance with programme guidelines.
Training Manuals and Minimum Training Duration
According to the latest update, training manuals for each trade area will follow the approved National Occupational Standards (NOS).
Participating centres can access these materials through:
- Their TVET dashboard
- The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) website
The ministry also disclosed that minimum training days for each trade will soon be published based on the Guided Learning Hours assigned to different vocational areas.

Starter Packs for Beneficiaries
The government further revealed plans regarding starter pack distribution for beneficiaries under the programme.
Cohort 1 Beneficiaries
Starter packs for Cohort 1 trainees are expected to be distributed alongside graduation activities.
Cohort 2 Beneficiaries
For Cohort 2 trainees, starter packs may be distributed either:
- At the beginning of training
or - Midway into the programme
These starter packs are intended to support trainees with practical tools needed for skill development and post-training activities.
Additional Information for Centres
The ministry also confirmed that:
- Details of trades lasting six months and 12 months have already been published
- More information about upcoming training sessions will be released gradually
Centres seeking:
- Increased student capacity
or - Approval for additional trades
were instructed to submit their requests through the official TVET portal.

The postponement of the FME TVET Cohort 2 training means applicants and centres now have additional time to complete enrolment processes, documentation, and biometric requirements before training officially begins in June 2026.
