The Federal Government has opened applications for the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) Fellowship 2026.

This is a fully residential three-week programme designed to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge, leadership skills and networks needed for careers in the legislature and public service.

The fellowship offers participants an opportunity to learn directly about Nigeria’s legislative processes, governance, constitutional development and value-based leadership, while gaining mentorship and practical exposure that can support their long-term public service journey.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of Nigeria.
  • Be between 21 and 35 years old.
  • Demonstrate a credible record of leadership or community service.
  • Have strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Demonstrate creativity and the ability to develop practical solutions.
  • Be passionate about Nigeria’s development, governance and public service.
  • Have an interest in participating in the Nigerian legislature.
  • Be willing to fully commit to the fellowship and uphold its values.
