FG Launches iHatch Startup Incubation Program (Nationwide) for 36 States and FCT

Applications are now open for the iHatch Startup Incubation Program 2026, a major innovation initiative designed to support startups and strengthen innovation hubs across all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The programme is regarded as Nigeria’s first truly nationwide incubation initiative, adopting a decentralised, hub-first approach that focuses not only on startup founders but also on building sustainable innovation ecosystems across local communities.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, NITDA, ONDI, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

About the Federal Governemnt iHatch Startup Incubation Program

The iHatch Programme is a 10-month incubation initiative structured in two phases:

Phase 1 – Innovation Hub Development (First 5 Months)

Selected innovation hubs across Nigeria will receive:

  • Onboarding and training
  • Operational assessments
  • Tiered certification
  • Capacity-building support
  • Tools to strengthen startup support systems

The goal is to improve the ability of local innovation hubs to continuously support entrepreneurs within their communities even after the programme ends.

Phase 2 – Startup Incubation (Final 5 Months)

Selected startups will receive:

  • MVP (Minimum Viable Product) development support
  • Business and market validation
  • Legal incorporation guidance
  • Sector-specific business training
  • Mentorship and monitoring
  • Real-time performance tracking
